The Stork, The Guinea Pig & The Elephant

People always ask me what it is that I miss most about Spain. I tend to say, the weather, and leave it at that, not really knowing what else to answer. It isn’t that I don’t miss other stuff, it’s just that there isn’t anything that I miss so much that makes me want to go back to live there (yet). If there was, I wouldn’t be here, would I!?

I am though, going back home for a couple of days mid November (hi mother, I know I haven’t told you yet, will email you later… expect cheeky comment bellow from the maternal unit), and I have found myself all day today thinking, I need to do this, or that when I’m down there, and then realised that the things I miss about Spain (or, to be fair, Alicante) are so random, that it is in fact this reason why I always answer ‘the weather’ when anybody asks…

In no particular order, I know that when I’m down there on the 17th I want to:

1.- go buy food (particularly lentils, crisps and donuts)

2.- go check the usual dvd/cd shops (and get a couple of each…) and clothes

3.- enjoy the sun, having a beer outside (and I know it’s November, but here’s hoping it is still sunny enough to give me a sort of tan…)

4.- see my friends (blah blah blah.. if I have to… not bothered.. kidding people! kidding! I expect some bashing when I get there now)

5.- have a night out with my friends (to make up for comment number 4… and because I haven’t been out clubbing in ages in Spain! People, ‘get yer butts off yer sofa’ and take me out dancing!)

6.- go to the video store and rent 3-4 films that I cannot get in Scotland, and spend an evening watching them while eating loads of rubbish food

7.- go to the beach and enjoy the best ice cream ever (yup, mid November, might not be in my trunks and tshirt, but still warmish enough to not die of hypothermia, same as number 3)

So, technically, the answer to what I miss the most, is weather, food, and friends… turns out, I’m not that random after all (though slightly special). Now on to that email to my mother to break the news that I’m going down to visit…
