My Locker

I went down to Durham on Monday. Hectic day really, but fun nevertheless. Got up at 6am, and was out the door by 6′40. Stopped at the garage for petrol by 6′50, and was on the road (A1, if you want to know how to get down to Durham from Edinburgh) by 7am. By 8′30am I was in a petrol station, mid journey, asking for a coffee… By 8′35 I was phoning my sister in search of some banter…

Arrived to Durham at 9′40, parked the car at 9′50, and ran to my class which was starting at 10am, only to find a note at the door at 9′55 saying that the class had been post-poned to 11am. Nice…

So was at the department’s secretary desk at 10′15, asking for my code and locker key in the Postgrad Room. I’ve always wanted a locker in uni. I used to have one while doing my undergrad, and it was ace to have it since you could leave your coat there all day, books etc. So was looking forward to having one this year.

By 10′25 I was in front of my spanking new locker, and it hit me, right there and then, that I have nothing to put in my locker. Can’t leave any books, since I’m only down in Durham once every two weeks or so, therefore it’s kinda silly to leave them there when I need them on a daily basis… So I pondered for what felt like hours (4 minutes, really) what to use my locker for… And then I knew. I knew what would make me happy next time I opened my locker. So I ran to the shop, bought it, ran back up again, got to my locker, opened it and placed it inside by 10′40am. Then I looked at it, and smiled.

My locker holds a nice bag of crisps of which I am the owner of. They’re Walkers, ready salted, and I can’t wait to eat them.

I’ll send you my photo to pin up on the inside of the door.

I know I’ll get less smiles than the crisps but we all know our place in your life, Adri ;)

I bet you spent the first half an hour of your class not really paying attention but laughing internally at you own silliness… :-D :-D

You are a cute kiddo, and you know it :-D

Marc – sounds good to me. I expect that photo this weekend then!

Agueda – I think I spent the hour thinking if I could just go back to my locker and eat them! :-D I did spend though, half an hour laughing when, on the way back to Edinburgh, at a traffic light, I realised why these two old women were looking at me with smirks in their faces. I had my car window down, and I was singing at the top of my head (badly) to this radio tune they were playing… I had to scroll my window up… And then beg for the light to turn green…
