I’ve had a look over the films I have seen in 2008 (I write them all in my daily planner, once I have seen them. I’ve done it for years now, I keep a track of what I watch…), and wanted to share the best and the worst in movie watching I have done during the past year. There is no particular order or reason why or how I do this, but I like this idea of reviewing 2008 and voting on the masterpieces and the lowest of the low in cinema making.
I’ve divided the films in two groups: cinema and DVD. So I have the best and worst 5 in each. Well, in fact, it seems I watch almost anything on DVD, and I have either a very poor judgment of what to see, or I am an utter critic when it comes to DVDs, since I could only find 3 worth films I’ve seen on DVD this past year, while I seemed to have seen plenty of awfully crap films, so I have 3 best and 7 worst… Let’s get awarding medals!
Worst of 2008 at the cinema:
Alien vs Predator: Requiem
How She Move
Superhero Movie
The Happening
You Don’t Mess With The Zohan
Best of 2008 at the cinema:
Gone Baby Gone
In The Valley Of Elah
Iron Man
The Dark Knigh
Wall-E
Worst of 2008 in DVD:
Death Proof
Epic Movie
Happily N’ever After
High School Musical 2
Licence To Wed
Love Wrecked
The Heartbreak Kid
Best of 2008 in DVD:
El Metodo (The Method)
Shelter
The History Boys
Obviously, each to their own, and all that but, do you agree? Any that you would change? (apart from The Happening as the worst of 2008, that stays there…). What are your best and worsts of 2008? Add a comment and share it with the world. Don’t be shy! If I have been brave enough to admit to watching both High School Musical 2 (which means I saw the 1st film as well…) and Superhero Movie, you can rest assure any films you mention won’t be judged… Unless you saw The Happening 10 times in the cinema. Then you had it coming….
The Heartbreak Kid was awful!
I watched The History Boys yesterday. I gave it a 4 out of 5. I loved the settings, the “play” (I would have really liked to see the play) but for some reason the point of the film escaped me. Just seeing them talk, and quote, etc makes the film worth it though.
