I’ve been wanting to discuss this for some days now (well, since the news came out really, last April 8th), but never found the time to sit down and talk about it… So here we go! Pixar has announced their future releases for the next 4 years. Pretty exciting stuff if you are an animations fan like me. There, I said it out loud: I’m a Pixar-loving-nerd. Oh and Disney. Can’t help it, love the black-eared mouse! Though I don’t love him as much as I do Kermit. Random, I know, but I have a platonic crush on Kermit… He is my ideal-man-muppet-frog-animation-whatever-you-want-to-call-it. It’s not easy being green!? Hell it ain’t! You go tell everyone little fella!
Ramblings aside, this year’s Pixar release WALL-E looks ace (how can you not fall for him!? Yeah he might look a bit like Number 5 from Short Circuit, but he is so cute!), and can not wait till it comes out on the 18th of July (in the UK). But next year’s Pixar’s movie looks to be quite the ride too! Up is the story of a 78-year-old man who has a new lease in life, and goes on an exciting journey. I know, doesn’t sound the best, but it promises plenty of action. 2010 will bring us Toy Story 3, which if it is anything like Toy Story or Toy Story 2, it will be exceptional. Apparently the idea is that Woody, Buzz Lightyear and family end up in a day care centre after their owner gives them away when he goes to college. Clever!
The other two features they talked about I’m not too sure about. the 2011 one, Newt, is about the last two ‘newts’ alive (whatever they are…) that have to procreate and ‘love’ each other, to save the species… even if they hate each other. Interesting, but, is there really a whole film in that idea? We will have to wait and see, and be sure that Pixar will prove me wrong! And then, in 2012, it’s the one I really am not looking forward too. Cars 2? You kidding me? I liked the first one. I mean, it was ok. But out of all of Pixar’s films, it wasn’t the best one. Monsters Inc 2? Why not, it has potential. The Incredibles 2? Bring it on! But Cars 2? Really? Big no-no…
So anyways, have a look at this article, it also tells you about future Disney releases. They sound ok too. But none of them looks as awesome as WALL-E. If you don’t believe me, check the official site. Have a look at the trailer. What did I tell you? Masterpiece in the making.
I didn’t care about Toy Story 2 much and haven’t seen Cars, but I really want to see WALL-E too! I’d rather no second parts of any of the PIXAR films were made. I think they usually just repeat the same idea. The same holds true for non-animated films, mind you. Ok, maybe I wouldn’t ming seeing The Incredibles 2, with Jack Jack as funny as he appears in the short film with the baby sitter.
Hey, when you press on the Newt link to imdb, it goes to a page that says “More information for this In Development project is only available on IMDbPro”, has imdb decided to make reading some entries only available if you subscribe (pay them)? Like merrion-webster online has? Pity…
Hmm, no Pixar films in 2009? Seriously? What are they thinking?
we have Pixar’s UP in 2009!!
And imdb has some part of it which has been paying only viewing. It is just for new movies in production that have not yet started to be produced, they are in the super-pre-production part of it.
It is mainly just for people that work in the industry… They become all-inclusive (i.e. non paying) after a while.
And I think Toy Story 2 is far better than Toy Story…
my eyes haven’t seen the number 2009 in your post and they concluded “no film in this year” even that “next year” means exactly that
